I have always been intrigued with the depth and individuality of certain words and phrases of the Native Peoples language. So much was sacred, including the expression of their thoughts, either through body language or through the spoken word.
The word washtay, translated to the English language, means good. The original definition is much more complex, and offers a glimpse of their deep esoteric spiritualality, which I hold dear and sacred to my heart.
I chose to spell the name of this sculpture phonetically, honoring the language with correct annunciation when attempting to pronounce "wah-SHTAY".
